City Fit Club is celebrating its 1st Birthday this month and we are pleased that the 12 week programme has already had a significant impact on the lives of those who have taken part.
The programme is offered to the over 30's who want to lose weight and become fitter and healthier both physically and mentally. The project is held at St James Park for 12 weeks, with each week consisting of a 30 minute informative workshops around food, nutrition, goal setting and healthy lifestyles followed by light physical activity using the stadium landscape as the venue.

“I have been going to fit club since October 2016 , after hearing about it from a friend that was doing it I decided to join. It’s the Best decision I have made for a long time! As a follow on I have now started Stadium Circuits and have signed up for Park Run although have yet to actually make it to a Park Run! but I am sure I will do very soon.
For me it really is a lifeline. I am a single mum of two teenage daughters the oldest of which (16yr) I am a carer for, the last couple of years have been really tough as she struggles with mental health. Through the often very difficult times Fit Club has given me something to focus on for myself, boosting my own self-esteem. Not to mention the obvious physical health benefits it is mentally very good for me.
I know when I go it is my time for me, which helps me cope with the rest of the week ahead.
It is also great to meet lots of new people and be inspired by the coaches. Fit club has really benefited me and continues to do so. It is fantastic that it is made available to so many people as many like me would not be able to afford a gym membership. This offers great value for money as a lot of it is free or at a reduced rate which makes it open to people like myself.
There is no ability level required to join in, everyone aged over 30 years old who would like to benefit from the programme are welcome.
