Welcome to todays game against Morecambe. Where we welcome players and supporters from our Ability Counts teams, who are today’s supported charity collectors.
Ability Counts #Everyplayercounts
Over 70 players represent Exeter City across our six adult men’s teams, a women’s team and two youth Deaf teams at u12 & u16s - the first youth Deaf football teams in the county, training regularly in Exeter with a group of committed coaches and support staff.
Teams play in the Ability Counts league and are grouped into divisions with similar ability levels to enable players to compete against others with a comparable level of impairment. The league is open to all players with a learning disability, mental health, hearing & visual impairments, Down’s syndrome and physical disabilities.
Earlier this month, Exeter City’s Pan-Disability (mixed disability) teams took part in the first Ability Counts tournament of the season at Devon FA’s headquarters in Newton Abbot. Adult and Youth sides from across the county assembled at Coach Road for a day of competitive fixtures in what is the ninth season of Ability Counts football in Devon.
City’s teams put in some fantastic performances and returned strong results in the competition that included sides from Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, Tiverton Town, Bideford & Barnstaple. The Grecian players were a credit to the club showing great respect and sportsmanship both on and of the pitch.
We are fortunate to have the support of local grassroots club Central FC who provide the team with a training base and facilities at KGV playing fields as well as sponsoring the teams playing kit and helping to fundraise.
Everyone at Ability Counts would like to say a huge thank you to Central FC for their continued support and would welcome any support you are able to offer tonight via the bucket collections.
