Now you're getting back into the swing of things at school, now would be a great time to remind you about our after-school sessions!

We travel all over Devon providing sessions, offering a whole host of different sports in locations convenient to you.

CCT’s Ben Watson, who heads up our after-school programme, says “There’s lots in store for the upcoming term so keep an eye out for us at your school and be sure to check out our website & book onto one of our programmes.

“We offer a range of different sports tailored to the school’s needs,” explains Ben. “We cater for boys and girls, offering a variety of sports such as football, dodgeball, multi-sport and netball which are only some to mention. If your school would like to offer something new or offer an afterschool, lunchtime or breakfast club for the first time then contact us.

“In terms of the after-school club our coaches are all FA qualified with a valid DBS, safeguarding and first aid qualification and will provide an hour-long session after the school day has finished.”

If you don’t manage to burn off all that energy in the school playground, and you want to escape the classroom at the end of the day to take part in regular sport then our after-school classes could be just the thing for you.

Ben explains: “Our clubs are all about fun and participation and to help keep youngsters healthy. We want to inspire them to be active through fun and engaging sessions, have a sense of belonging, and provide opportunities to express themselves through our programmes.”

“It’s not just the youngsters who benefit, it’s the families as well, having the right staff to inspire young people to build a stronger community.”

Our courses are also focused on providing a social benefit to help people make friends through games led by our expert coaches.

Ben continued: “Within the FA’s ‘Four corner model’ being ‘social’ plays a huge part in sport. Our sessions encourage children to try new things, provide confidence and allow plenty of challenges and opportunities to make new friends. So, come along, make new friends and flourish.”

Ben, who is a former player for Exeter City and played at Wembley stadium for the club, explains that programmes such as after school clubs and holiday courses helped him develop his skills which was the platform to have a career in sport.

Exeter CITY Community Trust is part of the Exeter City Academy player pathway so, if you’re looking for a fun activity and you think you’ve got the ability to impress our coaches then why not come along?

“When I first started playing sport I came to programmes like this and it inspired me to play football.” said Ben. “That’s something that I want to give back. It was natural to come into coaching after my playing days to help provide more opportunities for young people.

“It’s nice to have the memories from playing professional sport and now being part of the pathway, if players come in and show the hunger and the ability then we will recommend them into the academy.”

As well as Ben former players Chris Shephard, Aaron Dawson and Connor Riley-Lowe play key roles at City Community Trust.

“For former players to come and work with us it’s great, they understand the values of being hard working with the right attitude and sportsmanship. They know the importance of setting the right environment which is safe, fun and challenging where young people can excel. That can only benefit the young people that we work with.”
