Local Community Has Their Cake and Eats It Too

Posted on June 29th 2019 by

On Saturday 29 June, the Lord Mayor of Exeter hosted his first Charity Coffee Morning of the year in the Guildhall. As the Lord Mayor’s chosen charity this year, all proceeds from the coffee morning will go to CITY Community Trust. Members of the local community who attended the event were met with a variety of cakes, scones, and even some fantastic second hand books.

In preparation for the fundraiser, members of staff from CITY Community Trust and volunteers prepared some amazing baked goods such as a chocolate and banana cake, baked by our very own Chief Executive, Jamie Vittles. The event was met with a very good response from the community, with many commenting on how good both the quality and the value of the goods were. In total, the event raised almost £300, a fantastic amount for our first event of this kind.

The next Lord Mayor’s Charity Coffee Morning in the Guildhall will take place on 20 July 2019, from 10am to 1pm. If you’re in town, don’t forget to grab a slice of cake, and a tea or coffee to go with it!
