Man vs Fat Exeter

Man v Fat football, endorsed by the FA, is a 14-week football league exclusively for the 56% of UK men who are overweight or obese.

Currently, there are over 20 million overweight men in the UK, accounting for 7 out of every 10 men.

Over the 14 weeks, players will be put into teams and will battle against each other in a local league every Friday evening, to be held at the Cliff Hill Training Ground. Each game will be 30 minutes in length and feature 6 players per side. Depending on pounds lost by the players, bonus points will be awarded and added to the match score.

 

It’s not just about the football, Man v Fat also offers participants diet and lifestyle advice , 24/7 online support as well as experienced CITY Community Trust Health & Wellbeing staff available on matchdays.

 

Chris Fenton, joined Man v Fat Football in January and has dropped over 5 stone. “Man v Fat football gave me a kick up the behind and made me realise how bad my health was. The initiative launches with an introduction event at St James Park on Friday 19th January at 8pm followed by weekly matches at the Cliff Hill Training Ground for 14 weeks. It costs just £9.99 to register with an additional price of £5 per game.

In so many ways. Advice given on the WhatsApp groups by other like-minded men, plus tips and advice from our amazing coach Roger. The responsibility I feel for helping out my team by scoring goals on and off the pitch. The regular weigh-ins and the fact that MAN v FAT Football has made my weight loss journey enjoyable! I can’t wait to go back each week. I feel more determined and focused than I have ever been.

It’s a league full of like-minded men who all support each other and learn from each other. 

What would you say to anyone thinking of joining MAN v FAT Football? 

Just do it! I know it sounds quite daunting. I felt nervous but those nerves were gone as soon as I got there. It is the best thing I have ever decided to do. It has transformed me physically and mentally.
